I’m a psychotherapist working with adults and couples.

Services Offered

Individuals

In the therapy room, I provide the base from which we begin to explore and make sense of your current experience, history, and future directions you desire to take. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process, therefore I tailor therapeutic approaches and techniques to your unique needs and goals. My approach is down-to-earth, thoughtful, practical, and playful.

Together, we will work to gain a deeper understanding of the issues you are facing and explore the underlying factors that contribute to your current difficulties. The model that I work from is based on the understanding that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected, and that addressing these interconnected aspects can lead to positive change.

People often find that this type of work allows individuals to gain self-insight and develop more adaptive behaviors. Shifting long-standing patterns in this way can empower individuals to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Couples

Couples come to my counseling practice and start therapy for many different reasons, including:

  • Difficulty talking about important topics

  • Feeling stuck in painful patterns of communication

  • Feeling distant

  • Having difficulty resolving conflict

  • Wanting to repair and build trust

  • Wanting to build connection and intimacy

I help couples with developing communication skills and increased emotional awareness so that they may cultivate the relationship they want. Through the process of couples therapy, you can generate greater understanding of both yourself and your partner, heal old relationship wounds, and resolve the patterns which lead to misunderstanding and disconnection. Ultimately, the tools, trust, and connection gained in therapy can support you in continuing to navigate challenges and grow as a couple. My work with couples is based on the well-researched model of Emotionally Focused Therapy.

I am a psychotherapist working with adults and couples both remotely, and locally in the Todos Santos area. I approach each individual with curiosity, thoughtfulness, and warmth, and view each treatment as its own collaborative endeavor. I view client’s challenges through a non-pathologizing lens, meaning that there is nothing abnormal, bad or inherently broken about us, or the responses we have. All of our responses are intended to help us, however at times we get locked into old patterns of responding which no longer serve us. We all possess the inner resources to lead fulfilled and balanced lives, and working with a therapist can help us access those resources. The framework I use is integrative, utilizing ideas from Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and neuroscience research. These modalities are all considered highly effective ways of treating a broad range of issues including relational difficulties, depression, anxiety, anger, trauma and loss.
